In addition to being a world-renowned conservatoire, the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) is also host to a range of both free and ticketed events. As a college that places performance at its heart, there is naturally a strong show of student-led talent showcases throughout the year. This sits perfectly alongside performances from a variety of artists encompassing everything from classical to folk to big band shows; the Manchester Camerata have performed at the RNCM, and more modern acts such as FKA twigs, Gruff Rhys and Tim Burgess have also held one-off gigs there. Put it altogether and it's clear that the college's performance venue has an incredibly varied programme, suiting all music tastes and supporting brand new musical talent. Occasionally a venue for comedy and literature events, the likes of Adam Buxton and Jennifer Saunders have also appeared on the RNCM stage. Opening hours for the performance venue vary depending on the event, so have a look at our listings for more details. [Charlotte Davies]
