The Finnieston-based sandwich bar (named after the old Glaswegian slang for sandwich) does one of the best under-a-fiver lunches you’re likely to find in the West End, with a very pleasing selection of thoughtful creations available between a range of breads baked on site. Of particular note are the ‘Inquisitor’: chorizo and manchego, as well as anything involving coronation chicken. The banter-laden chalkboard menus change up frequently so don’t be afraid to experiment, particularly with the traditional Polish elements that have crept into rotation – and if you get stuck, the staff behind the deli have no shortage of ideas. Also available are soups, coffees and cakes.
Piece is the kind of place that thrives off a commitment to its own ideals. Everything is super fresh, made from scratch, and done with the humble sandwich in mind. Furthermore, staff-chat is among the best in the city – no mean feat in a city that often doesn’t know when to stop talking.
