Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop was established back in 1987 by a group of artists who wanted to create a centre for sculptural activities in Edinburgh. To this day the Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop is located in Newhaven and provides a hub for artists and audiences alike who take an interest in sculpture. Artists benefit from opportunities to develop and promote their work, through exhibitions and talks, and the use of studio space within the Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop itself. Specialist production facilities are also available and staff are on hand to provide advice, training and mentoring to aspiring artists. Likewise, audiences are invited to get involved with the creative process through various educational workshops. In addition, evening courses include the likes of wood carving, ceramics, stone carving and clay portraits. Weekend courses are also available, as are learning programmes for schools. Essentially, there are myriad ways to get involved with the Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop, whether you're an artist or just looking to find out more about sculpture, so keep an eye on their website and pop along to whatever takes your fancy.
