University Cafe

University Cafe is a staple at the end of Byres Road where businesses always seem to be going in and out of business. It’s not modern and it’s not chic, but it’s cheap, functional and a cosy, cluttered relic from the days when Glasgow was chock-a-block with ice-cream parlours. Take a (leathery red) seat at one of their booths and admire the art deco interior as you wait on your feast. The menu is your typical greasy spoon fare, but the ice-cream deserves a special shout out – made with double cream, it’s a sweet, sickly treat for a summer’s day.
