The Lowry

Located next to the water in Salford Quays and part of the ever-growing MediaCityUK, The Lowry is a mixed venue combining a large gallery space and a number of theatre rooms. The gallery upstairs is dedicated to the building's namesake, L.S Lowry, with around 400 pieces of his work either in the archive or on display, while another large gallery space hosts an ever-changing programme of exhibitions and installations. The free admission gallery also hosts talks on LS Lowry's history and also runs a documentary on his life every day.

The main part of the building holds two large theatre rooms, which host events almost every night of the week, whether that's theatre, dance, music or stand up comedy. The large stage of the Lyric theatre is perfect for extravagant stage productions and the smaller Quays theatre is a popular choice to see the latest up and coming comedians in a closer environment. There are also a couple of studio spaces for smaller shows, or they can be hired for private events.[Charlotte Davies]
